Keith has been campaigning for improvements to the A47 since he was elected to the House of Commons in 1997. "Ideally we would like to see the dualling of the whole of the A47," he said. "But after the Government downgraded the A47 from a strategic route to one of regional priority that seems a long way off."

"There have been too many fatal accidents so I am urging the Highways Agency to consider remedial measures such as roundabouts," he added.

One example would be for a roundabout where the A47 passes through Honingham where Andrea Jackson, whose son David was killed there in October 2005, organised a petition.
